Do You Have BCP Survey Fatigue?

Here is an interesting article from the USA today earlier this year that we can probably all relate to in some way: http://www.usatoday.com/money/story/2012-01-07/consumer-feedback-fatigue/52432412/1.

Many people seem to be suffering from “survey fatigue” as a result of frequent requests for feedback by retailers, websites, and more. From calls during dinner from pollsters to giant pop-ups on a your car insurance company’s website, it seems that market research is a constant in our lives. And technology – especially online – is accentuating this annoying problem.

So maybe our industry is rife with BCP Survey Fatigue? This article got us thinking about surveys related to business continuity planning software and BC in general. We have heard time and time again from customers who complain that long surveys are the bane of BC planners’ existence because their customers – the end users of their plans – despise answering long, jargon-filled questions. And when planners do convince their users to answer, many of the points are subjective and can weaken BC plans.

Just think: If a business group is asked questions about how important their department is to their company on BIA survey, many if not all will answer that their team is the most important. The simple fact is that not every business unit in an entity is the most vital to operations or business recovery.

Our BCP software, ResilienceONE®, uses a few short, business-process based questions to help collect data and they analyzes business functions objectively to determine risk, complete a BIA for the planner, and provide the groundwork for building a strong BC plan.
